Re: AANA and POLITICS Doing Anesthesia $Cheaper?. Archived Message
Well said JT it is politics and legislation that allow them to practice Independently in rural areas where there are no MDAs or DOAs. What disturbs me is when the AANA says they can do the same job as a MDA/DOA only we can do it cheaper, now tell me how is that cheaper when CRNAs in rural areas are earning any where from $250,000 to $350,000 or higher as a mid-level anesthesia provider Independently out of the ACT model?. But they still are under the supervision of a "Surgeon".
That is a Anesthesiologist MD/DO salary who has put in 10-14 years of schooling who have earn the right to make that type of salary. In my opinion It's a "INSULT" to a Medical Doctor who has Sacrifice so many years of schooling and there personal life to have a nurse anesthetist only spend 2.5 years of anesthesia school and come out of school as a new grad student to earn the same salary as a Anesthesiologist MD/DO.
AND THEY(AANA)SAY THEY CAN DO IT $CHEAPER GIVE ME A BREAK, as the old saying goes (I WAS BORN AT NIGHT "NOT LAST NIGHT") meaning don't insult my intelligents.
I Guarantee you if the tables were turnaround and they(CRNA) spent 10-14 years of "Medical" school to become an Anesthesiologist MD and have a CRNA new grad come out making the same salary as a MDA/DOA with only 2.5 years on a masters level education vs a Doctors education.
Trust me he/she would be very up set, because I would be upset after all the sacrifices I had to endure to get to this level of a MDA to earn what I rightfully deserve after all the "time", "money", and "years" I have spent to earn $250,000-$350,000 & "higher" vs a CRNA earning the same as me with less education vs a Anesthesiologist MD education no offense just pointing out the "facts" & "truth". Once again "POLITICS".
I personally don't see how the AANA say they can do it $cheaper when they are making the same as a MDA/DOA especially when they(CRNA) are still under the supervision of any "Physician" out side the ACT model besides a MDA/DOA that's just my opinion I just don't understand It.
