Perhaps Stanley, if you feel CRNAs making comment on this message board is inappropriate, you should recluse yourself from further comment. But I do feel this discussion has a connection to the AAs. Read the posts for the past year. Time after time CRNAs ON THIS WEBSITE go on about how they are "professional" and how AAs will "lower the quality" of anesthesia. How AAs can not "practice independently." How is what THEY say relevant to AAs? If CRNAs are going to post stuff on the AA website trying to shoot down the AAs comparing them to CRNAs, I think it only fair to post the opposite side of the issue when I have information that counters the inflated claims of my fellow CRNAs. In regards to the failings of these CRNAs... How is breaking nursing practice laws and basic sterile technique "professional?" How can we say AAs will "lower the quality" of care when the care rendered by these CRNAs is about as low as you can go? Perhaps if AAs had been in there doing the anesthesia WITH MDA supervision, none of this would have happened. But it did happen. It was done by CRNAs who could "practice independently." Until such time as I actually work with an AA and see what they can do, I shall not judge them. Rather I shall be willing to give them a fair chance to join the anesthesia community. And I shall continue to post on this website as I do feel there is a connection.
