Nurse Anesthetists are More Professional.....Archived Message

Now that I got your attention...
I am terribly embarrassed that five of my fellow CRNAs in Las Vegas put over 40,000 patients at risk. That kind of gross negligence lays waste to the claims that CRNAs are "better" because of their critical care nursing background. Even a new graduate nurse knows better than to reuse syringes and vials from one patient to another. I guess my fellow CRNAs in Las Vegas "unlearned" all of that basic nursing and ICU stuff when they became so "professional."
I have said in the past that every comment that my fellow CRNAs use to denigrate AAs was used by the ASA against CRNAs years ago. Here you have another example. The ASA was very quick to pounce on this event and point out it was not MDAs who were involved.
I hope you AAs and student AAs take note: What any one of you does that reflects negatively on your profession will be used against you, most likely by some of my fellow CRNAs. You must pay attention to the details and not get caught doing something that you were taught was wrong.
