    Look captain of the ship doctrine is dead, even the ASA says so. As a CRNA every case you do is under your license not the anesthesiologists. So if the anesthesiologist orders an unsafe or questionable anesthetic the CRNA delivering it will be hung out to dry in court.
    As an AA you practice under the Anesthesiologists license, a big difference in responsibility. AA's I am sure are good providers but they are not the ones who are ultimitly responsible for anesthesia care, they are in the end as the name says assistants. Until the laws change, and the ASA who controls the AA is not going to let another independent provider out there that is the way it is.
