Since when is the "law" always right? Particularly, when special interest Groups like the AANA have such a powerful lobby. The posts are clear but I guess you do not understand concepts. CRNA's consider Anesthesia "Nursing" but Physicians call it "Medicine." Now, 50 years ago it was "Nursing" but things have developed in a way (complicated monitoring like TEE, Advanced Nerve Block techniques like Lumbar Plexus/ Paravertebral and potent drugs) which has moved the reality of Anesthesia Care into the practice of Medicine. There is even a CRNA practicing Chronic Pain Management under the guise of "Nursing." This is of course B.S. but Nurses like yourself (MDA wannabee's without the proper background) continue to use Nursing Boards and the legislature to obtain "rights" without the proper education level. MDA's that were CRNA's have testified under oath that CRNA's lack the medical knowledge to practice independently. This is a bad idea that needs to be fixed. Because government idiots decide to make something legal does not mean it makes sense or is the right thing to do. However, the AANA and you continue to confuse the Public and legislators that CRNA's SHOULD be allowed to practice "solo" in all 50 states. The ASA will continue to oppose you. The AA's provide a LEGAL alternative to CRNA's such as yourself for the ACT. I stress legal because the AA's are fighting for the right to practice with an MDA in all states and they have the same level of education as a CRNA! How ironic that the AANA opposes another Mid-level provider's right to work within supervisory guidelines while they themselves want none. One or two years of changing sheets does not make you more qualified to be a "solo" practitioner than an AA. On top of that, you will not admit AA's should be allowed to practice in all 50 states. The AANA agenda is selfish, greedy and potentially dangerous for patient care. Fortunately, major medical centers know the truth and choose to acknowledge it.
