I also applied to Emory but my application wasn't complete in time for their deadline. However, the admissions department at Emory has my GRE scores, 2 LORs, and supplementary documents. The only thing I need to submit for my application to be complete for this year's cycle is the third LOR, which I now have.
Here's my dilemma: I made an 1110 on the GRE last year (score pretty low in math -- around 530-ish). South said I was rejected w/out an interview because of my GRE score. I am scheduled to take the GRE again in August, but I just found out that the testing company will not be mailing out test-takers' scores until sometime in November (it has something to do with the fact that only the new GRE is being administered starting in August). This would mean that at every school I apply to, my application would not be complete until mid-November.
My number-one school is Emory. Their application deadline is usually around December 17th, which would mean that my application would be complete about a month before their app. deadline. It seems like it would really be pushing it to apply that late.
Here is my question. Since they already have my GRE score (1110) from last year, should I go ahead and submit my application to Emory in August when the application becomes available, or should I wait until I have re-taken the GRE and hopefully made a score of at least 1200? If I send them the scores from the re-take in August, my application won't be complete until mid-November. Obviously, to re-apply to South and Nova I will have to just wait until my new GRE score is reported in November since it would look really bad to re-apply with the same GRE score I got rejected with.
So do you guys think I have a higher chance of being granted an interview at Emory by applying early in August with a lower GRE score of 1110, or by applying in mid-November with a higher GRE score (hopefully 1200)? My GPA is a 3.59, and I am taking a pharmacology class, an upper-level health science/biology class, and re-taking physics 1 (made a C) during the upcoming fall semester. I conducted a research project as a requirement for my undergraduate biology degree that was formally written and presented (it is actually several course credits on my transcript). I volunteered in a nursing home during the summer of 2009 and have shadowed 3 AA's and plan on shadowing them again before I apply.
