Re: Questions about applying and re-applying to AA schools
It's hard to tell. Emory acts like that kind of information is classified CIA intel, so it's really anyone's guess. I would presume, however, that they are taking a wait-and-see approach; in other words, if they still end up receiving a vast number (relatively speaking) of early applications, they'll still accept the approximately 20 applicants they normally would accept. On the other hand, if they don't receive very many applications due to few applicants having had the foresight to take the GRE prior to August, then I imagine that they'll just accept fewer candidates during the early app. period, especially if they want to maintain the same level of competitiveness that they normally observe during the early app. period. (I.e., if they still choose to accept 20 students but they receive much fewer applications during this year's early app. cycle, then it will likely be easier for those candidates to gain acceptances.) Of course, what if they receive at least 20 super-competitive applications where every applicant has at least a 3.6 GPA, 1200+ GRE score, and impressive life experiences? That's why I'm afraid to apply during the early application period, even if fewer people overall would be applying...
