Butt Stock From Another LCS From pre 1913Archived Message

The reason we find these nice looking old L C Smith butt stocks laying around is because people took them OFF of their L C Smiths to have their L C Smiths restocked to dimensions that are shootable and usable. The old original L C Smith butt stocks almost always have way way to much drop in the comb and are just not suitable. I can make SOME of the old L C Smith butt stocks shootable by taping and gluing a CHEEKEEZZE cheek pad on to the top of the butt stock to raise the comb. I would advise you to not waste your time dealing with an old LCS butt stock with to much drop if you intend to really shoot your L C Smith.
You can search this website and find many many discussions about the excessive drop in the comb of our old L C Smiths, the ones built before 1913.
Doctor Drew has PICTURE TRAILS showing some of these old style butt stocks. Search for "Drew Hause" on this website and you will find LINKS to the PICTURE TRAILS.
