Sully, Did I understand you right in that you tried cocking the gun at the receiver end by moving the cocking rods and that it did not cock it? Most of the time you have to go near the bottom and you will hear it click and then the rod/s will be loose. The only other thing I can figure is that the cocking plate/s in the forend are worn or missing. There is a through pin that holds them in.
