Skip, First I'd like to say that I like your web site and that there aren't many people now hunting the "real" snipe. As for the ejectors, I believe that there is some grime in there and not letting you remove them. If you have any penetrating oil, I use Kroil Oil, just put a little in the hole that the screw came out of and let it sit a few minutes. Or if you are like me and impatient, tap them out one side at a time. There is nothing else holding them in, and if they worked they are not bent. On the gun being off-face. Try putting a dollar bill between the barrels and receiver and see if it is tight. Pull triggers (once is ok without snap caps) and see if dollar is tight now. Also put dollar back in if loose and try pushing lever to the left gently. If it tightens the rotary bolt might be a little worn or the rib extension slot. I would seriously doubt that the hinge pin is worn. Are you sure that the forend is not loose and causing that movement? With the forend off and the gun open there is nothing, putting it together should be the same. I also have one that has the blued side plates, don't like it either, but I like to think that it came that way, and in your case (1948) it is a possibility that it did. Removing it would mean taking it apart.
