    In general double triggers are what make double guns desirable. You can instantaneously select the proper choke and if one barrel fails to fire you can immediately shift to the other.

    When you speak about hurting your "second finger" I trust that you do not mean that you are placing your index finger on the front trigger and your middle finger on the rear trigger. This is definitely NOT the way to shoot a double trigger gun, although I know that some folks have tried it. Both the first and second trigger are pulled with the index finger. Once you get used to this it becomes second nature.
