Mark, you have heard from some of the best on your gun. The swirly marks on the water table of your barrels are only done on the fancier grades, they called it damascine I believe back then. Now a days some refer to it as engine turned. It's the way the milling machine removed the metal in these areas, the slower the feed the more swirls. From reading about L.C. Smith's, the barrels were imported and they were in the rough, and Hunter Arms finished them here to their specifications.
