Thanks for all the information SGT, The gun does have an imbeded gold bar about 2 inches down from the top of the rib. Mabie it was a special order gun. I don't believe the gun barrel was cut because it is choked very tight. Since I'm new to smiths I have a hard time trying to tell if the gun is all original. Thanks for the information about the gun cocking. Luckily I opened and closed it a few times before I broke it down. The machine marks I was referring to are actually on the outside of the barrels If I look really close I can see very faint circular marks, I think this is original markings from when the barrels were made. I'm trying to figure out if they were ever re-blued. I'm also trying to figure out if the rib was ever re-attached or worked on that's why I was inquiring to get some pictures on the underside of the barrels between the flats and where the forearm attaches to the barrel. It isn't very clean but that might be how the 100yr old gun was made.
