Ok, I know we've tried to leave this subject matter, but I just absolutely have to make a comment and defend my state. I live in Utah and it is a great place! GREAT! Please don't look down on Utah because of this Douche Bag. I would have commented earlier but I just didn't have the time to respond with all my finals.
I would be rest assured, Mr. CRNA, that Utah will most definitely pass the AA bill next year. I am testifying to the state legislature on behalf of the Utah Medical Association and I work with the President of the UMA on a daily basis (He's an anesthesiologist). The Utah Society of Anesthesiologists supports AAs and they are adamant on bringing them here. So be rest assured, your insecurity and all this fighting back that you and your compadres does won’t last.
When I looked up your IP address it seems as though you were commenting from work. I assume this because you claim you are already a CRNA-in Utah; with a Utah.edu IP address that would make sense. I'm sure that the University of Utah would love to know that the CRNAs, that they so foolishly employ, are making great use of the states resources- specifically of the time/money you've wasted while on the my taxpayer dime in arguing about whether or not we will eventually bring AAs to the state. It’s going to happen, just accept it.
There are idiots and those naive about this subject matter in every state. This state is mainly MDs and they want AAs here. Every Anesthesiologist I have talked with supports my efforts to be an AA. They won’t stop the legislation until it’s passed. There is a reason you CRNAs will never be employed within the major hospitals of Intermountain Health Care. YOU are the risk to patients, not us. You said you worked in a level 1 trauma center; if it was here, at IMC, you have no room to talk. You didn't do jack without a physician/PA order. I can’t even do an art-line, on a critical patient, without an order....when I know they've called me. If it’s not written, I can’t do it. And the nurses are under even more constriction. If it was at the U, that didn't happen either because it’s a physician-teaching hospital. They have to learn to give orders. Who do they give them to? You and every other nurse.
In fact, the University of Utah wants to bring AAs in. We will likely be replacing you, so enjoy it while you can. You should get off this message board and get back to work.
