There are 1000 two few CRNAs being graduated every year to meet current demand. Let alone the demand when the baby boomers start retiring. And the point about nurses being needed to become CRNAs is a valid point. The expansion in the nursing programs is coming from the two year AA degree programs meaning all the graduates of those programs can not become CRNAs as they do not have the BS requirement. You can not make CRNAs with BS RNs to start. AAs on the other hand have a much broader pool of potential candidates from which to choose. If competition is a good thing, I see no reason why my fellow CRNAs should be so nervous. I certainly am not nervous as I see there is more than enough work to go around.
