I really have a hard time understanding all of this bickering between these two specialties. The fact of the matter is that having experience in the medical field and patient care is going to give you an edge, but learning to give anesthesia is the reason you are going to school and that is where you are going to learn it. The point that should really be debated or talked about is that we are all coming out skilled mid level practioneers. I am a cardiac perfusionist and I feel that my field and anesthesia are closely related but there are things that I will learn that I have no clue about and that probably can be said about anyone new coming into the study of anesthesia. I guess the debate of who is better or more suited will continue....makes no sense because both are here to stay and the AA are not going anywhere and CRNA's are proven providers. My last two cents is that, the difference between the two providers is how they get to do there job. The education allbeit through a different route will end in the successful practice in anesthesia.
