Seeing as what you quoted is NOT organic chemistry but an explanation of pharmacodynamics. That is an application of organic chemistry by someone else to explain the mechanism of action of LA in this case. One can be completely unfamiliar with organic chemistry and still apply what you have quoted and understand its implications as well. An example is what we are doing right now can you program in JAVA, or UNIX or C++? I cannot but I am completely capable of using a technology based on it, Hell I have a basic understanding of organic chemistry as do all of cohort, but A real global understanding, no. The only ones who really have that level of understanding are the chemists and they are the one who apply the basics of these sciences to develop new drugs and technologies. 99.999% of us in health care are technicians in one sense or another, we have an understanding of the technologies we use but we cannot repair them, perform any original work in them and our explanations for there actions are just so simple compared to those who REALLY understand them. This not a slam against any provider it is just a fact of life and this explanation holds true for CRNA, AA or anesthesiologist.
