Another idea to consider is that "better" is subjective. For some people, they feel it is better for them to practice independently, while for some, they'd rather work with the doctors. So if AAs chose to be AAs, knowing that they will not be independent, then by all means, let them (as long as they're providing safe anesthesia). There is no need to bash them simply because the medical boards won't allow them to be independent. It like PA's and NP's. Just because a physician assistant cannot work independently, it doesn't mean that he/she is worse or less successful than the nurse practitioner.
