My response to you would be to seek out an anesthesia provider program that fits your desires, whether it be an MDA or AA or CRNA program. Just remember that an MDA will always be a Medical Doctor, a CRNA will always be a nurse, and an AA will always be an anesthesia assistant. Both the AA and CRNA will NEVER, NEVER, be Medical Doctors. Therefore if you want to be a Medical Doctor, then my suggestion is to go to Medical School. If you want to be a nurse, go to nursing school, if you want to become an AA, go to AA school. BUT, do NOT become an AA or CRNA and think you are an MD. I am an MDA and work with CRNA's on a daily basis, and for the most part we ALL know our role in the practice. But believe me, I did not go to medical school to become a nurse or AA. How senseless it is for those nurses or AA's to think they are a MDA. I think whatever you choose, be proud of your profession.
