Also, I am a PROSPECTIVE STUDENT who has no biased opinion about neither a CNA nor an AA. I am located in NJ and this is my story from NJ CRNAs who don't even have any threat from AAs yet the onsecurity and hostility for MDs and AAs. Aren't nurses compassionate creatures? The CRNA went on about how they lobbyed for their high salary, independent practise and etc. Infact he said they are not even considered by the regular nurse's organizations. Then what's the whole hipe about the minimum BSN requirement when I have much more 400 level courses taken from Rutgers that the BSN program doesn't even offer. Furthermore, there is a lot of job opportunities for everyone in anesthesia (let it be MD/AA/CRNA). In my opinion, it is a good solution IN THE FUTURE for the AA to assist the MDA in the big cities that can afford MDAs and for teh CRNAs to make use of their independent license in rural areas if they wish that is since this board reflects a lot of pride about CRNAs "indepent practise" and ability to work without the MDA. So why not minimize the shortage problem by having the MDA and AA work together and CRNAs work in the other places that can afford CRNAs. Anyways, in NJ CRNAs cannot be independent working without MDA supervision. Also, I do agree that it is a waste of both CRNAs who mainly work in teh OR and MDA drinking coffee and saying "hello how's everything coming along" once in a while...might as well have both work in places that have scarcity of Anesthesia providers by making the AA step in and forcing the MDA stop drinking coffee outside the OR
