I wish I would have been taught to read before school. My mom wasn't a reader at all, and I only remember her looking at movie magazines. I would love to have known how that early. By the time I learned to read well, I discovered reading for enjoyment. I never had books and we never went to a library, ever. I'd sneak my oldest brother's SciFi short story magazines and read them. The teachers would have books lined up on a back counter that we could borrow, so I did that. Also, that's where I learned about libraries.
