Pattie honestly, an assisted living place is not that bad. Find a place that takes monthly payments, not a place that wants all your assets. I have a lease here and pay monthly. What ever else I have ..investments, etc is still mine.

Many are here with no kids, and widowed..some do have kids who really don't bother..which is worse?

You make friends, you get involved with their activities and make the best of your situation.
