Although we get very few injectors we sell back under warranty (around 0.25%) when we do we send them back to our suppliers for warranty repair / replacement.

Has anyone noticed that recently Bosch in particular are taking an age to process these claims, I currently have the first one this year in process and it's been in for 8 weeks and still no answer.

The injector in question has failed electrically (Bosch test kit) and always used to be a direct swap out, but now they are sending them back to Bosch Germany (so I am told) to strip and test them fully before giving a replacement / refund or rejection.

Due to this delay we are having to stand the cost of a new injector ourselves or have very upset customers, which we don't want.

We have been warned that due to a small amount of corrosion on the outside of the injector (it was unusually clean & had only been in 4 months) it is likely to be rejected, This has to be a get out Claus as if this were the norm hardly anything would be warranted if there were even the slightest sign of rust !!

if it's not been drowned & there's no tide mark or signs of water ingress i don't see how they can really refuse it in that time frame.

perhaps you should remind your supplier how many you've fitted etc.

The comment made by the supplier was "some rust near the fuel return pipe".

All parts fitted to a vehicle in this country rust or corrode over time due to our weather, if the part can't take this then it's simply not fit for purpose.

I'll be on the phone again shortly bending their ears..... I'll also remind them again of the £50,000 we've spent on injectors over the last 12 months as you suggest.

As expected the warranty was refused due to a tiny rust spot on an otherwise pristine injector...
no more than a con, no warranty in essence.
they didn't even strip the injector just gave it a quick glance and voided the warranty stating water contamination as cause of failure........

trouble is there are no alternatives to fit only bosch do injectors for this engine.

Did the report come from Bosch, or is your supplier pulling the wool?? (Not sceptical me)!

If it was Bosch, at this point the injector still belongs to you, so I'd be awkward and request it back for independent testing, which will culminate in taking it further if it is found to have an internal fault (costs, testing costs and damages to your reputation). The unit was clearly not fit for purpose, and either your supplier needs to swallow the injector cost, or you'll find another one who will.

Currently all suppliers I have spoken to are now giving the same reply - Bosch will reject any warranty claim on these injectors.

The first injector has been returned with a report which they say if from Bosch, injector is untouched, complete in one piece, so not stripped for inspection.

Thing is the injector has no external fuel leakage, the inside of the injector is pressurized fuel yet they state water damage to the internal piezo crystals has caused fault.

They state this without stripping the injector to confirm water inside.

If we take it further where do you find a Bosch injector expert that will stand up against Bosch. I'm sure they expect not to get sue'd due to this..

I'm not sure if the report is genuine or not !!

I now have two further Bosch injectors in for warranty with Renault (different supplier, two different vehicles but from same batch, I buy in bulk) I will wait to see what result I get (been told they will be rejected already by parts dept, before they were even booked in) and what the report says, looks like to confirm legitimacy of first report

The last Bosch injector warranty claim we had was two months ago and certainly at that time, we had a five page report from Bosch warranty dept at Uxbridge, detailing the reasons for failure (and rejection of warranty of course). They dismantled, inspected and took very good photographs of the dismantled and damaged parts. Could not fault the quality of the report--and neither could the customer!.
