Range Rover Sport 2.7 2007 - Non start, code P0642 #

Year of Manufacture *: 2007
Engine Size and Code *: 2700

Good evening

This range rover has a fault of p0642 reference voltage low. After many hours of testing and retesting I have purchased a new PCM from Landrover. Using genuine IDS and Landrover SDD I am trying to programme the component to the vehicle.

I can't find anything to match the pcm to the vehicle. It must be immobiliser related as the old ecu would run just lit the dash up like a christmas tree and the new pcm won't turn the engine over.

Dare I say it but this is where autologic used to make life easier.....

Any info or guide would be hugely appreciated

Simple,

Shove it on a trailer and let dealer do it, I had posted a lot more but if are not up to job you should not have taken it on !some sort of conflict !!

I assumed having the correct genuine dealer equipment and subscription to land rover would allow me to be up to the job. Delving a bit deeper it looks like its security accreditation that is required from Landrover before SDD will give access (which I will get sorted ASAP). Carried out many software updates but never a replacement unit. Once I have got over this hurdle I will put up how so anyone else struggling will have some help.

Having a bad day Tony?!

I can't remember if it's in service functions or extras but towards the bottom is an option regarding replacement pcm. I did one the other day and selected vehicle doesn't start. This gave me the option to configure the pcm.

Interestingly I also went in with security login and there were no additional options from that given already for the pcm.

SDD requires a certain thought process to navigate.

Thanks for your reply! The way I have carried it out was -

Start SDD with the original ECU on the vehicle and let it carry out its initial scans, then close session and replace the ecu with the new one, then finally re open sdd selecting open previous session.

This then allows me to 'configure PCM' within the extras tab but after its completed it still doesn't stop the red led blinking and no crank. I've got in contact with LR Support in case I'm missing something stupid.

Totally agree regarding SDD being different, I used to think Ford took some getting used too....

I shall get the ball rolling. I guess this is something every manufacturer is going to require if main dealer equipment is being used. A few more hoops to jump through!

As I understand the current situation with security clearance may be simplified after agreement with Europe. The RMI is setting up a company to simplify the security clearance at a single point for all manufactures selling in Europe. as per the original Block exemption rules back in 2001. therefore it may be cheaper next year.

That sounds like some good news Paul. Hopefully this will be enforced relatively quickly.

My initial problem with the range rover PCM programming was down to security issues. Once the security system on the vehicle had accepted a new module was installed the red light stopped flashing and it started instantly.

Now it is back with the high pressure pump failing under load.... I know expense comes hand in hand with a range rover but I can't help but feel sorry for this customer.
