VW Passat 2.0 CBAB 2009 - Glow coil flashing, code P2111 Actuator control system - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2009
Engine Size and Code *: 2.0 CBAB code
( Optional ) Scanner Used: solus pro
( Optional) Fault Codes: P2111Throttle Actuator Control System - Stuck Open

Hi got this 58 plate passat in yesterday with customer complaining of glow plug light flashing.
Plugged in solus to find p2111 Throttle Actuator Control System - Stuck Open logged in system. cleared and less than a mile later it was on again.

Took pipe of bottom of intake and actuated system through solus and found the actuator butterfly only twitches in the open position.

I then took the plug off to find it full of engine oil.

I cleaned it out and cleared codes to find within a mile on test drive it was back on again.

My question is,, Where is the oil from,, is the loom tracking the oil up it or is it coming from the actuator side. Its a nice clean angine and the actuator is well away from the oil filler cap so i cant see it being from spillage.

I had on esometime ago. It was dpf and throttle fault. Removed the dpf but butterfly fault still was coming back in about mile or so. Cleaned - didnt help - just replaced . Didnt wonderring how oil gets into it.

The oil is probably from the turbo, you will have to look closer at the throttle housing to work out why it is not working.(I think you will find its a common fault)

Mark do you mean from the turbo via the intake or via wiring loom?

Is this the engine that suffers with EGR contaminating the throttle flap? If so, remove the EGR pipe where it goes into the inlet manifold, and pull out the cone that distributes the gases into the manifold. Turn it around 180 degrees (you'll need to file a notch near the bolt hole of the cone to allow it to re-fit). Remove throttle butterfly and clean thoroughly.

If it is is it likely to fill the flap motor plug with oil??

Hi again, quick update.

Car was in for full service today and try to find problem on throttle actuator.

Removed whole flap assembly to find it good and free. Took screws out of motor/mechanism on side of flap shaft on unit to find it full of oil.

Cleaned out oil and refitted, reset code and test drove. Light stayed out. all seems good now.

I believe oil has been forced in through flap shaft from intake pipe under pressure from turbo.
