Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 2002 - No throttle response when first started - Fixed #

Engine Size and Code *: 2000 cc
( Optional) Fault Codes: none

hi been looking into a running fault on a mondeo tdci.
there are no fault codes stored.
when first started there is no throttle response for about 10/15 seconds.
whilst testing the injectors (leek off test)i noticed allot of air from spill tubes no idea where its coming from has anyone else seen this?
i have tested frp sensor and its out put is 1.v within a second of cranking.
mass air flow voltage has a good wave form.

i did notice that when first started the electronic turbo takes a few seconds to activate on the first start.
the mechanical part of the turbo has been checked no excess play and the boost control arm is free.
egr valve tested seat was good and not leaking
cleaned and retested egr sticking resealed and tested with vac pump ok

any help would be appreciated

There's a post covereing this issue in the archives iirc.

I think an ecu update was part way towards a fix but not a complete cure. Can't remember the cause or the correct terminology but i think Mark Carter discussed it with us.

There is a software update for this fault but beware that the update is relevant to your cars config.
It is possible to configure an electronic egr when car has vac operated egr and vice versa.
Also do a volt drop test on cranking, if the nbv drops below 10v then there will be no throttle response until the charging system brings the battery back up to a good state.
Have had these that give four dashes on the display and no odometer and no throttle. new battery has fixed these.

As Steve has said above.
The software update is to fix a MDP monitoring issue thart Delphi had.

vehicle taken to Ford for software update local dealer carried out update and all is well

Are you sure?

Electronic turbo actuator on a 2002 Mondeo?

car was on a private plate and had not realised just goes to show need to be more careful with my posting
