There is a software update for this fault but beware that the update is relevant to your cars config.
It is possible to configure an electronic egr when car has vac operated egr and vice versa.
Also do a volt drop test on cranking, if the nbv drops below 10v then there will be no throttle response until the charging system brings the battery back up to a good state.
Have had these that give four dashes on the display and no odometer and no throttle. new battery has fixed these.
