Audi A4 TDi 3.0 TDi ASB 2006 - Inlet manifold track motor, code P1018, 1577 & 3135 - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2006
Engine Size and Code *: 3.0 / ASB
( Optional ) ECU Type: Bosch EDC16
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Autologic
( Optional) Fault Codes: P1018, 1577, 3135

This is the common problem on these engines with the plastic inlet manifold swirl flaps and motor, this one needs both at £373.03 + vat the motors are available seperately but will not cure the problem.

My question, has anyone removed the swirl flaps succesfully as done on the BMW's etc or is the only option to replace both manifolds?

My customer is driving to Italy week after next so if no one has removed them I will quote to replace both...

Hello Rob,
Had similar problem on a 2007 Audi A6 V6 TDI ASB engine with 80,640 miles and the only permanant fix was to renew complete units.
Only one side was playing up but decided to replace both and the intake pipe which joins them together.
On inspection apart from the carbon mess was a very slight flat spot on the cam movement on the faulty side.
Think I did read somewhere that it was possible to lower the ECU's working tolerances

as i see you are using an Autologic unit they may be up on this. ( I don't have an Autologic system

)

Hi Ian,

We changed both manifolds (TPS £461.24 inc VAT each!) intake pipe was ok, there was wear on the plastic linkages must have been causing the problem, I am unsure if AL is able to alter tolerances or not.

Can you remember how long you booked to the job my tech has 5hrs (£40/hr) on the sheet including checking a faulty engine mount? Autodata has no data

first one of these i sent to dealer rob 18 months ago they charged me £887 inc vat fitted to give you a price idea from audi if this helps jusify your bill.

Hi Sean,
I'm guessing that must have been for one?? I've got £922 inc VAT for the manifolds (these had a price increase other week when we priced them to ordering them on Feb 1st from TPS they were a stock item so I bet they increase the price even if 'old' stock)
Anyways at 4.5hr job will be over £1100 invoice going in post so hope he pays up!!

yeah that was just for one rob. modern technology great while it works and usually highly un necessary
