LDV Maxus 2.5 VM 2008 - Cuts out intermittently #

Year of Manufacture *: 2008
Engine Size and Code *: 2.5 VM engine
( Optional ) ECU Type: Bosch EDC 16 C39
( Optional ) Scanner Used: KTS

I have one of these wonderful vehicles in at the moment.

The customers issue is that the vehicle will cut out intermediately (up to 300 miles between events)

The ECU is flagging a over pressure fault and a FRPS short to B+.

Both are historic and I can't fault the vehicle at present.

All tests carried out so far return good results.

My question is; has any come across this before on this type of vehicle/ do they have any known faults with the wiring looms?

the reason why i asked I know the story of someone who been strugling with identicial car , very similar problem, and he couldn't reproduce the problem.The fix was diesel pressure regulator. I dont know the system Mark, regulator or IMV. It could be worth trying.Regards

Duel point control and when you force the system to control the pressure by either means the duty cycle follows the rail pressure.

It's already had loads of bits thrown at it.

Hi Mark

Having worked for the army up until three years ago i thought i would give a little background explanation in case it helps.....

Most forces vehicles are subjected to multiple jump starts either as patient or supply vehicle, these are done by anyone without training or experience.

Most vehicles are filled with fuel from cans regularly when out on exercise, a lot of these cans are stood for extended periods of time and also contain water, general crap or the remains of the paint from the insides of the can in a paste like form.

Army vehicles a regularly washer off with a fire hose when muddy from exercise, no thought to where the water is going is given

It may also be useful to check any breathers for mud.

Mark I have today transplanted an engiine and assesories from a vechile that was showing the same fault as yours The ecu was left in the donor vechile and the engine and wiring loom was hooked up to the reciveing vechiles ecu Now no fault code for overpressure Also have a LDV reving up to 2000rpm on its own ECU and key reader swap cured problem HTH Kevin
