Morning
We have this in at the minute its a recovery truck from another garage, they where winching a car on to the back and it cut out, they found a blown fuse which was replaced, the winch now works but it will still not start. Fault code's are for fuel pressure sensor circuit. With the scope i get no injector pulse and no switched earth at the inlet metering valve, rail pressure is very good but is slow to build up reaching 700 bar. It has been to the dealers who have changed the high pressure pump and had the injectors checked, all OK. I'm just about to send the ecu away but was looking for any second thoughts
Colin What is the reason for sending away the ecu? No pulse at the injectors is probably because it is not happy with the rps. What voltage readings are you getting from the rps? You say no switched earth to mprop, so you have 12v on both wires or one wire permanently to gnd? Has rps reading been checked against independent gauge? What fuse was replaced? Was there a booster pack or charger used while winch was running?
kieth thanks for the response mate not sure whitch fuse was replaced, the info is third hand, another garage's customer. the imv has 12v to both wires cant remember what the voltage reading on the rail was but it did take a while to build up to max. i don't think they would have used booster pack while winch was running. One other thing is the crank sensor only just reaches 1 volt when cranking although this has been changed and can be seen by the scan tool cheers Colin
Colin So has the rps been checked to see if it is telling the truth? Mprop on this is fully open so rail pressure should climb very quick if there are no leaks and 700 bar seems low. This hasn't got a relief valve in the rail has it as would expect rail pressure to be higher if injectors are switched off and cranking speed is good? Diesel feed and return are correct and it is diesel in the vehicle?
What equipment have you got to check the system other than serial tool?
