Year of Manufacture *: 2006 Engine Size and Code *: 2.2 HDI ( Optional ) ECU Type: EDC 15c2 (?) ( Optional ) Scanner Used: ACR4 G2 ( Optional) Fault Codes: See Text
Evening all,
This vehicle has come to my attention because the EML intermittently illuminates. Vehicle drives perfectly with or without MIL showing. On my first visit about a week ago, it displayed 3 fault codes. I noted the results and cleared the ECM. The EML re-appeared yesterday for a few miles and then extinguished.
Fault codes are as follows:
P1607 - Mil o/p circuit malfunction P1425 - Cat downstream temp signal P1537 - Accelerator pedal jammed. Strategy activated (EDC15c2)
No EOBD codes stored.
Customer has had the vehicle only for a couple of weeks and bought from a dealer.
I am of the opinion it may be an ECM software fault and should go back to the dealer to sort. Also normally I find multiple codes are inter linked but I cannot see any correlation with these codes.
My dealings with diesels are limited and learning through experience and forums such as this. I would be grateful for any advice before the vehicle gets thrown back to the dealer.
Hi Pete, I could advise you on the codes (and will if you want),but I think that bearing in mind the short time that the customer has owned the vehicle, the best course of action would be to back it to the dealer?
The reason being is that are you giving your customer the best service, in charging them for something that they should be getting for free.
Also You could be letting yourself in for the age old line of "it must be what your guy has done" should you start the job and then it ends going back to the dealer in the long run.
I hope that I am not telling you how to run your business, it's just that I have been there before.

You are of course correct in what you say. I advised the customer initially that the dealer was his first port of call, but unfortunately he has lost faith in them due to pre-delivery problems of the vehicle. Customer relationships have broken down and hence my appearance on the scene. Will advise tomorrow that he needs to bite the bullet and hand the problem back to them. I have left the DTC's in the ECM for main dealer to see.
