Ford Transit 2.5 Di 90ps 2002 - Non start, codes P1664 and P1564 #

Hi

This van had a fuel filter chane as part of a regular service, 2 days later the van stopped. The garage bled the system again and it went for another 2 days and then stopped again.

The garage repalced the filter housing, however, this on has a lifter pump on it. Will it still work this this sort of filter housing?

Codes logged are P1664 Fule inj pump malfunction, P1564 Inj pump requesting reduced fuleing. These caodes are logged in, engine ECU, inj ECU and pump. They will not clear.

Is there a way to test these pumps in situ?

If the pump is faulty, Autodata says to code them a PATS code is required, is this correct?

Also finally, can anyone tell me where the injector pump ECU is.

Hi,From my experience with DTC P1564 - If this code is present and the engine is knocking,renew the FIP timing solenoid.For additional information refer to:TSB 64/2004.Possible Causes: Air in the fuel sestem.Blocked,kinked or crushed fuel lines,outlet fuel,connector pressure control valve seized or blocked.CPS circuit fault.Blocked external filter.FIP supply voltage. These info were in our WDS.
In our case - after the all check's we found some little stones inside the fuel filter housing !!! Also,try to use OEM parts for this system type!

Hi Simon. What do you mean by :-

These codes are Logged in the Engine Ecu, If you want to read the faullts that are logged in the Pump ecu, Then you have to plug Directly into the pump ecu.

The pump Ecu is the box on top of the pump with the multiplug on it with the slidelock connector.

I Dont know of any other tool that can read the Pump ecu apart from the Bosch KTS, and I think this gives 2 or 3 digit fault codes.

I would be fitting a genuine Filter and housing before condemning this pump as any air or blockages in this system will play havoc with the pump.

I think what Simon has done is select engine management and read codes then gone back out and selected injection pump ecu from the menu but, as you have said Tony, the only way to read pump codes is with Bosch kit. The MT pro and Omiscan give you 2 or 3 choices for diesel management and gives the impression you are communicating with a different system each time when in fact you are just re-reading the engine ecu fault codes again.

Hi Simon, What actual tests have been carried out on the pump with regard to the two fault codes stored in the engine ECU ? As it is possible for a broken wire to cause both of these codes.

PS. As to your question regarding the PATS system, The pump ECU is matched to the Engine ECU and if changed it will need re-matching.
