Mercedes Sprinter 311 CDi 2001 - Intermittent loss of power - Fixed # Archived Message

    Hi

This one ( typical farmers van, very rough condition, don't like spending money) came in about 3 weeks ago low power, checked codes various found but P1470 turbo pressure regulation was the one that appeared to be the issue, after investigation, found wire corroded through near boost pressure control valve, soldered in new wire, replace valve for good measure long roadtest all OK.

Came back today, customer now says intermittent low power, been fine on roadtest. checked codes, Found P0600 Can line, P1481 Heater plugs, P1615 ECU power feed and P1470 turbo pressure regulation.

I still feel the P1470 is the issue, I have checked all vac pipes with vac pump /gauge OK, Check vac pump with gauge, checked operation of turbo acuator both with vac pump & via ECU work smoothly and holds

This looks like a VVT, are these known to fail like the VW ?

I have not yet had time to check for leaks on air intake pipe work, would under boost cause it to go into limp ?

On roadtest got max recorded turbo pressure of 2241 kpa, reads just under 1000 at idle, so thought that looked about right, but no boost pressure listed on AD.

    Any thoughts & suggestion welcome

    Thanks Aidan
