Fiat Multipla. 1.9 JTD. 2002. EDC 15 C7 - Goes into limp mode looses power but keeps running # Archived Message

Has anyone ever seen anything like this. ??

We have a Fiat Multipla that goes into limp mode, ( Or that's what it feels like ) It suddenly loses power but keeps on running, Customer say's that it does ocasiionaly stop, But whilst I have been Driving it, It slows down but alway's keeps going and After 20/30 seconds, It suddenly regains power. ( would Limp Home mode suddenly Revert back to Normal without Cycling the ignition ? )

The Only fault that is logged when it does this is AFM Signal Low. I have checked the AFM Data with Snapon Scaner which Reads in Volts and shows a Maximum of 0.9V when there is up to 4v+ going into the ecu. ????

I have Also Checked it with KTS and That shows 30-50 MG/S at Idle and Say's that it should be around 200 MG/S. ??

I have Noticed one other problem on Data on the T.P.S. Voltage ( 2 Circuit T.P.S. Sensor, 0-2.5V and 0-5V ) Where The low voltage on Live data is erratic and the signal Drops off from around 0.37v to Zero V on idle, ( Can be seen whilst driving at low speed ) Using Dec it Can be set to show it as a Graph and it is Clear that every few seconds the voltage drops to ZERO, ( all scanners show same problem ) Apart from KTS, ? as For some reason As Bosch Don't show the T.P.S. Voltages, Just a Percentage, Which appears OK ?? ( looks Like a Usual Case Of Other scanners give better Information than The Manufacturers, Unless Bosch have left it out for a Reason. ?? )

We Have Bridged the T.P.S out with A resistor and the Voltage then Stays Steady, But I am not yet Convinced that the Problem is being caused by the T.P.S. itself. ?? When Scoped, The voltage has the odd Spike here and there but doesn't actually drop off completely. ( is the Roughness of the signal upsetting the ecu. ?? )

I have Ordered a New throttle Pedal/ Potentiometer, Which Should arrive on Monday, And I Have also Substituted the Ecu with another Used one and got Exactly the same Problem. ( Surely I can't be unlucky enough to get 2 with exactly the same problem. ?? )

I have also scoped Earth wires to the ecu and cannot see a problem. AFM has been tried without any improvement. ??

Anyone got one of these Sheds in that they could check the Data on. ??

If Anyone can Test these Ecu's, I now have a spare one that can be sent in and the customer can run the car in the meantime. ?

    Thanks. Tony.
