    This thing is driving me mad now.The surging is being caused by the EGR valve being operated by the ecu.I rechecked live data & rescoped the mass meter & found on live data the desired readings at idle were 270mg/hr & the actual reading was 365mg/hr.I decided to try fitting another second hand mass meter which was changed because it wasn't reacing peak voltage,whereas this one is reaching 4.5 volts when scoped.When i changed it,the desired & actual readings almost matched precisely & the surging seamed to stop.I switched them back again & the surging returned,so i ordered a replacement unit,which i promptly fitted to find that the desired & actual readings were the same as the original mass meter & the surging returned( the replacement mass meter was a Fuelparts one).
    I am now not sure whether to order a genuine unit or look for another cause of this fault,such as the map sensor or temperature sensor(which appear fine on live data).
    I decided to try starting the car with the second hand unit on when the engine was colder & it seemed to surge again,but not as much,but when revved up the engine did again stumble & run rough, but not as much as the original.I am going to try again in the morning & see how it reacts.
