I had read about the issues you mention. My intention once this problem is dealt with is to advise customer to get shot of it. It is really not a wise choice of engine for very low mileage infrequent use(is any modern diesel).

Anyone got Autologic vw within an hours drive of King's Lynn?

If not I will go to dealer armed with your info, hopefully that will cut through some of the bull!
