Year of Manufacture *: 2005
Engine Size and Code *: TDV6 2.7
( Optional ) Scanner Used: IDS
( Optional) Fault Codes: None
Throttle response up to 2000 rpm is extremely sluggish but above 2000 rpm it goes well.
It starts perfectly every time, even when cold and runs quiet and smooth.
Fault occurred over Christmas break and a neighbour code read it with Sealey type tool and got 'EGR fault' and then cleared it. No codes have returned since.
Live data showed EGR valves responding correctly, fuel presure at idle 210 bar and full throttle under load about 980 bar, boost max at 1.9 bar. I would have liked to have seen a bit more fuel pressure and boost really.
The customer was interested in having a BG intake cleaning service but I said this may not cure the problem but he decided to have it done.
Top end performance improved but below 2000 rpm it was the same as before.
I then fitted new fuel filter and noticed that at initial start up FRP was about 270 bar and when at normal running temp. reverted back to 210 bar at idle. Road test showed max FRP of 1550 bar and now max boost of 2.3 bar but the performance below 2000 rpm was still very poor, almost no throttle response at all.
Also checked auto trans TCM - no codes.
I was now wondering if the EGR fault mentioned above was left over from when they were replaced and not cleared at the time.
I then blanked off both the EGR valves to eliminate them completely - no improvement so they must be operating correctly.
I now have the weekend to decide which direction to proceed next week, any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, Martin.
