Sorry for the delay in replying to your post, i have had a staff shortage and this car had to go on the back burner.
I have tested the cam sensor thoroughly and can find no fault. I am back to the timing now. The timing chain is in good condition and all the marks line up correctly, however this is the 16 valve engine and the cam sensor is not the one driven by the chain but by a set of gears, i suspect that a previous mechanic has rebuilt the cylinder head and fitted the cams out of sync. Autodata only give instructions on the timing chain and not the fitting of the camshafts. The link to the Honda technical website on the ukautotalk list is for USA and Canada only. Anyone know the timing procedure for the cam gears and are the gears keyed or not? or is there a technical website for Honda Europe?
