I checked the loom. Nothing wrong with it. I even opened up the protective cover to make sure.
The van started this morning with 2 faults in the PCM. A EGR fault and a P0016 cam crank sync fault(even though DS708 shows this as a key fault).
Swith the engine off and the faults disappear until it starts again. When you rev the engine it it hesitates badly and starts dying. That's when the P0016 fault occurs.
I scoped both sensors. Signals look good. There is a very small bit of signal drift when the fault is occurring. About one quarter of a crankshaft tooth.
There is no chain noises.
My question is would this be enough to cause my problem?
The range display is blank until the van starts (I think this is normal). When the van starts hesitating and dying the display starts flashing blank then range comes back. It is completely random but in sequence with the engine dying.
