When these injectors start to fail they can present a slight cough symptom, this gradually worsens the longer you leave it. the mil / heater plug symbol can come on or not normally with a misfire code for the cylinder at fault if it does or with an intermitant code if not. you are correct in identifying the cylinder with care as there seems to be alot of confusion over which is which (even the dealers argue over this)
This engine is also fitted in the traffic and primastar, the traffic code on autologic is a 12v + to earth code and all suffer problems with the injectors being seized in big time, i've now done over 300 of these and they average 8-9 tons of force required for removal. so if it dosen't move after a few bangs with the slide hammer it ain't going to come out easilly and its time to call me !!!. be very careful with the threads on the injector as damage to these dramatically reduces the chances of successful removal although i have had some success where the threads have been totally broken off. check out my website videos and prepare your customer for a big bill.
On a side note beware of the dealer puller it regularly pulls the threads off long before the injector moves as it relies soley upon the threads where as my tool double clamps the injector, i seem to be getting calls from lots of dealers and also those who have borrowed the tool from the dealers with this problem these days.
