Had a similar one the other day Colin,would crank, no comms, no start, turned out to be fuel pressure dump valve, one on top of pump held in with three tiny torks screws, cant recall if we got comms at all but got it going and has been returned home now for a couple of months.
I tend to keep any engine sensors ect, even faulty ones, with an explanatory note, I had one of these units that would run a car but cause it to cut out at 3k, I used this one to get succsessful start.
