this car wouldn't happen to be on the out skirts of lincoln (a46) would it?
just i did the garage a favour (exactly the same vehicle details)and code read it with the merc star only to find fault codes in trans (dtc 2500 impermissable ratio or something like that). auto trans oil level reading very low in live data. i topped it up with what little oil they had and he said it run much better for longer then back to limp mode.
