In any case, the "EGR" fault code did not recur on the subsiquent non-start so I would tend to regard it as a red herring (For now anyway)
The possible CPS issue is reported in "Autodata" TSB section.
On another note. What a sod the polly v belt is on this!
There doesnt seem to be any way of locking the tensioner in "service mode" IYSWIM and the only bit you can get hold of to release the tension is sort of 14.5 mm so a 15mm spanner will eventually snap the "corner" off and no longer grip properly!
The B'stards must do it on purpose!
