Not sure if I'm right but I thought that the alternator lamp on these was direct driven from the alternator circuit and therefore would not come on when performing a lamp test under diagnostics. Wish I'd read this earlier, I had one of these in today , sorry.
I would check the warning light wiring in the convoluted sleeving coming aeay from the alternator.
