Thanks for your comments regarding the "Rural Scenery" pattern. That is very interesting and helpful. I've seen pictures of a number of the ones that you are referring to. I know that a number of potters did submit printed wares to the Great Exhibition including Joseph Clementson, but that is good to get clarification on the Prize Medal mark. Just one other question on this topic - all of the "Rural Scenery" samples that I've seen are absent the diamond registry mark on it. Could you clarify your statement of "Rural Scenery pattern can be assumed to have gone on sale in 1842 once the design had been registered." Do you have any information on if it was a registered pattern?
