sorry for this late reply, but only today I found microscopic pictures of quills of several tenrecines in a German-language reference: PODUSCHKA, W. & PODUSCHKA, C. (1982): Die taxonomische Zugehörigkeit von Dasogale fontoynonti G. Grandidier, 1928 (The taxonomic status of D. f.). Sitzungsberichte der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften, Mathematisch-Naturwissenschaftliche Klasse, Abteilung I, 191 (Proceedings of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, Class of Mathematical and Natural Sciences, Department I, 191): 253-264. There are pictures of Echinops telfairi, Setifer setosus and "Dasogale fontoynonti" which in fact is a juvenile S. setosus. I don't know if this is of any value for your studies but I thought I'd mention it. By the way, I would be more than glad to receive a copy of your study when it's done: David Kupitz, Am Wiedenberg 17, 59755 Arnsberg, Germany Good luck, Link: Tenrec Resources and Information
