There was a PhD thesis from the 1970's on hair morphology in insectivores, including several Malagasy tenrecs. If you e-mail me I can forward the reference (I'm not in my office now). You will have to buy the dissertation from UMI and the photocopied pictures aren't the greatest, but she also made line drawings and provided a fairly exhaustive review (at the time) of "insectivore" hair morphology.
