Will you be embedding the samples in resin or paraffin? I have tried to embedded hedgehog quills/skin in Spurrs and have had difficulty with inflitration. I was able to get a reasonable sample from a baby that had died. Sectioning was difficult though and I was unable to get sections thin enough for TEM. I will be hopefully getting a frozen tenrec that died soon. I plan on taking some of the tissue and will try to embedded it. The tissue quality will be poor due to the freezing but I thought it would be worth a try. I would be interested in any protocols that you have used successfully with the hedgehog skin.
