Which areas should I target to stay in?

Worried about traffic on Monday night being a nightmare if we stay out in Anaheim and come back towards Sofi.

We’re planning on renting a car at LAX.

Any other cool things to do with a 7 year old?

We’ll be there Monday-Weds for sure, might stay until Saturday (wife will be in Scottsdale for a conference so undecided if we fly there or she comes to LA)

It's been crowded as hell and expensive but there are more attractions. And if you get a park hopper pass, Disney's California Adventures just adds the the amount of rides and such. Plus they sell beer there. At Disney they have the newish Star Wars area. I haven't been but looks great. That said, I think they may have shut down one of the big star wars attractions.

Aquarium of the Pacific isn't too far north in Long Beach. That can be fun.

There is Legoland. I've never been but people love it for kids.

The Orange county beach communities are very nice for walking around and good places to eat.

It will be October so no Angels game to go to, sorry.

There is the Discovery Cube of OC. I heard that place is fun too.

And not miss Portillo's Hot Dogs right near Knott's. Best beef sandwiches this side of the Mississippi.

I'll see if anything else comes to mind.

Hey, Portillo's has more than one location in Phoenix. *

The husband HATED the idea that they got quite a small hotel room for an inflated price. He woulda been happy with the guided tour or whatever.

I think it's called Medieval Times. Let me think about this for a bit and give you a more thoughtful answer later.

Totally off-topic: visited Knott's long time ago with a SoCal "native". LOL.

Yeah, she lived in Buena Park before the age of say five: came back to Chicago for kindergarten and has never left since. :-)

Anyway, we flew into maybe the John Wayne Airport late in the evening: but before checking into the hotel, we HAD to go to Knott's for some sort of dessert that they're famous for (huh, someplace named Berry Farm with a dessert? Whoda thunk it). That was her enduring childhood memory of the place. :-)

We got booted out at say 10-11 pm or whatever was their closing time. Can't remember the last time I closed a bar, but yes: I can remember closing Knott's Berry Farm. LOLOL.

Now, back to our SoCal source...

And it sucked. Seriously really underwhelmed with it and some of the rides I wanted to go on were closed.

Many, many people have felt like "so this is supposed to be a big deal?" when they get to Anaheim.

If you ever have a choice, do Anaheim then Orlando. But not everyone can do both parks (at least not those in Chicago).
