Do you have any idea how much healthcare insurance premiums have risen the last couple of decades? How many people have insurance deny treatment that doctors say is necessary? Private healthcare is complete bullshit.

We all know our government isn't capable of running a UHC system, but if our government wasn't a complete worthless piece of shit, a UHC system is the way to fix the broken system in place now.

It wouldn't even be hard.

1. Have 2 tiers of doctors. General MDs & Specialists. Have separate schools for both. Get general MDs through school in the same 4 years, but change the residency to 1 year. Only have specialists do the long 3-7 year residencies and fellowships.
2. Open more med schools at large public universities and double the amount of med school spots.
3. Enact real tort reform and establish a reasonable damages schedule for compensation. Have it be govt. set and mandated. No more med malpractice suits other than to prove harm. Payouts are set by the schedule.
4. Cap med school prices and have the govt. fund 100% of the tuition.
5. Cap doctor salaries by general & specific specialties. Have it paid by the govt. according to a schedule with specific location adders for COL adjustments.
6. Make elective surgeries (plastic surgery, lipo, etc) the only private healthcare options outside of this system.
7. Dentistry, Ophthalmology, and Pharma all fall under the same umbrella as well.

Let private healthcare exist outside of this system, but make it completely siloed. Doctors can't come from the govt. program.

Canada's issue isn't that the framework of the program is wrong, it is that they don't have enough doctors and money to fund the system. We have plenty of money. We just need to stop allocating it such that 35% goes to insurance and 25% goes to lawsuits.
